According to report by NewsWatch on Saturday July 11 2026, Lucky Otoikhila, a Nigerian returnee who spent 11 years living in South Africa, has narrated the ordeal he faced as a foreigner in the country, including repeated xenophobic attacks. In an interview describing his experience, Otoikhila said life in South Africa was rough and, at times, bloody because of what he went through there.
He said he was attacked more than once by xenophobic South Africans, and that these attacks occurred well before the recent wave of anti-foreigner violence in the country.
