Former political ally of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, has criticized Kwankwaso for what he called “flimsy reasons” for not allowing him to run for any political office.

“How can Kwankwaso cite my age and health condition to deny me the chance to contest for the position of deputy governor or my Senate seat?” Hanga asked on a Kano radio program.

Hanga declared that he is now healthier than Kwankwaso, dismissing his rival’s repeated mentions of his leg condition as baseless and unable to hold up to scrutiny.

He pointed out that Kwankwaso is actually two years older than him.

On the question of his leg issue, Hanga maintained that it does not in any way interfere with his ability to carry out his legislative responsibilities.

Turning the age argument back on his opponent, he asked how old Kwankwaso was when he became governor, and how old he is now as a vice-presidential candidate.
