Former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and APC chieftain, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly known as A.A. Zaura, on Wednesday held a private meeting in Abuja as political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
SolaceBase reports that Shekarau paid a visit to Zaura at his residence in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, where the two politicians were said to have held extensive discussions centred on preparations for the next general elections.
Although details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed, sources familiar with the engagement said the discussions focused on political developments and consultations as stakeholders begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.

At the end of the meeting, Zaura reportedly told Shekarau that he would also visit him when he returns to Kano.
The meeting comes amid ongoing consultations among key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano as political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to take shape.
Zaura, a businessman and philanthropist, was the APC’s candidate for the Kano Central Senatorial District in the 2023 general election, making him one of the party’s prominent political figures in the state.
The meeting is particularly noteworthy as both politicians have recently been linked to the contest for the APC’s Kano Central Senatorial District.
While Shekarau emerged as the party’s consensus choice, Zaura publicly maintained his interest in seeking the ticket through the party’s internal democratic process, underscoring differing approaches to the race.
