Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South geopolitical zone have commenced mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election, declaring support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The leaders made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Prince Akpan Ikim, in Uyo at the weekend.
Leader of the delegation and South-South APC Youth Leader, Prince Koyoyo Uhrorho, said the visit formed part of broader consultations aimed at uniting youths across the region behind the APC and President Tinubu’s second-term bid.
The delegation included youth leaders from Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River and Edo states.
Uhrorho said that despite the current economic challenges facing Nigerians, the policies introduced by the Tinubu administration were gradually laying the foundation for long-term national growth and stability.
He described Prince Ikim as a grassroots mobiliser with the capacity to galvanise youths across the South-South region in support of the APC ahead of the next general election.
“We are identifying leaders with proven capacity to mobilise youths and strengthen the party at the grassroots. Prince Ikim has demonstrated leadership and commitment to the growth of the APC and the Renewed Hope agenda,” he said.
According to him, the forthcoming elections would not be won through violence or electoral malpractice, but through strategic engagement and sustained conversations with young people across the region.
He also warned against misinformation on social media, noting that digital platforms had increasingly become tools for misleading youths.
“We will move around the South-South states to engage young people directly on the need to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu,” Uhrorho added.
Responding, Prince Akpan Ikim pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Tinubu and other APC candidates across the region.
Ikim, who also serves as Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental and Waste Management Agency, described the visit as timely, stressing that continuous engagement with young people remained critical to strengthening the party’s structures.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Akwa Ibom to mobilising support for President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and other APC candidates.
The APC chieftain also urged youths in the South-South to remain politically conscious while taking advantage of opportunities in education, entrepreneurship and skills acquisition.
“As you return to your respective states, let this engagement strengthen your resolve not just to defend government policies, but to explain them clearly and mobilise greater public participation in national development,” he said.
