The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an urgent maintenance operation at the Katampe 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
TCN said the maintenance, scheduled to commence at 10am and end at 7pm, is aimed at fixing an oil leakage from one of the transformers at the substation.
In a statement on Saturday, September 05, the company said its maintenance crew would work to seal the leakage during the exercise.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that there will be an urgent maintenance today, Saturday, 5th September 2026, to enable TCN maintenance crew seal oil leakage from the one transformer at the 330/132/33kV Katampe Transmission Substation,” the statement said.
The company warned that some electricity circuits would be affected during the maintenance period.

It explained that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would consequently be unable to take electricity from some feeders supplying its customers through the affected transformer.
“During the maintenance some circuits will be impacted,” TCN said.
“Consequently, AEDC will be unable to offtake electricity from the some feeders to its electricity customers fed from the transformer.”
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the temporary disruption, assuring that the exercise was necessary to address the transformer fault.
“TCN apologises for any inconvenience this temporary interruption may cause electricity consumers in the affected areas,” the company said.
