A man from Tema has allegedly apprehended a suspected car dealer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus in Kumasi following a reported car deal gone wrong involving GH¢380,000.
According to the man, he paid the amount to two individuals after they allegedly assured him that the keys to the vehicle had already been handed over to his brother.
He said after making the payment, one of the men asked him to follow them to their office so they could complete the necessary documentation and finalise the process.
However, the situation reportedly took a different turn when the suspect allegedly attempted to escape while they were on their way.
The man claimed the individual jumped onto a motorbike in an attempt to flee.
Determined to retrieve his money and get answers, the Tema resident reportedly pursued and managed to stop the suspect and the motorbike rider on the KNUST campus.
The incident attracted attention from some students and bystanders, who gathered as the confrontation unfolded.
The matter is expected to be reported to the appropriate authorities for further investigation as questions remain over the alleged transaction and the whereabouts of the vehicle involved.
Cases involving fraudulent car sales have become a growing concern especially here in Ghana, with authorities often advising the public to conduct thorough checks before making large payments during vehicle purchases.
