Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has demanded that the local government chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress vacate council secretariats following a Federal High Court ruling in Osogbo on their tenure elongation.
The governor specifically directed the state Commissioner of Police to withdraw security cover for the Yes or No APC chairmen.
Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Monday, Adeleke said the federal high court purportedly dismissed an application for tenure elongation filed by the APC chairmen.
“The Court also holds that the sacked chairmen have no legal foundation to file the case in the first place,” he said, adding that their tenure, if at all they have any, elapsed in October 2025.”
“I specifically direct the Commissioner of Police to stop providing further security cover for the illegal occupation of the council secretariats by the sacked chairmen,” he added.

The governor also warned the management of United Bank for Africa against collaboration with the APC council chairmen.
“We remind UBA that it has sworn to an affidavit in which it vowed that the entire diverted local government fund is intact,” the governor said.
“Based on this affidavit and today’s judgment, we insist that the UBA must ensure that every kobo of the local government fund is secured and accounted for,” he demanded.
The governor also called on all security agencies to back the restoration of the council chairmen elected under the Peoples Democratic Party.
“We demand that all law enforcement agents should support the immediate restoration of the duly elected local government chairmen. This is the path of law and the constitution,” he said.
Efforts to get the reaction of the APC local government chairmen proved abortive as of the time of filing this report.
