President Bola Tinubu has celebrated banker, entrepreneur and philanthropist Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede on his 60th birthday, praising his contributions to Nigeria’s financial sector, public service and philanthropy.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, 2026, Tinubu described Aig-Imoukhuede as part of a generation of visionary Nigerians who “took bold risks on Nigeria” and showed that domestic institutions could compete on the global stage.
The President particularly highlighted Aig-Imoukhuede’s tenure as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank from 2002, when he led the bank through a period of transformative growth.
Aig-Imoukhuede is now Chairman of Access Holdings Plc and Coronation Group.
Tinubu also acknowledged his contributions to Nigeria’s capital market, including his service as President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and Founding Chairman of FMDQ Securities Exchange.
He currently serves as Co-Chairman of EnterpriseNGR.
Beyond the private sector, the President recalled Aig-Imoukhuede’s role in public service as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Verification and Reconciliation of Fuel Subsidy Payments in 2012.
Tinubu also praised the philanthropic initiatives of Aig-Imoukhuede and his wife, Ofovwe, through the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation.
The President said the foundation had focused on strengthening public service capacity, preparing civil servants for higher responsibilities and expanding access to healthcare.
Reflecting on the milestone, Tinubu said Aig-Imoukhuede’s 60th birthday was an opportunity to celebrate “a career that has transformed institutions and created opportunities for many.”
The President joined Aig-Imoukhuede’s wife, children, family, friends and associates in wishing him “good health, happiness, and many more years of dedicated service to Nigeria and humanity.”
