Darma, 76, died on Friday in Kano after a brief illness. His funeral prayers were held on Saturday at his residence in Hororo, near the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, after which he was buried.
In a statement on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the deceased as a personal friend and committed member of the APC.
The President said Darma’s contributions to Kano State and the APC would be remembered, adding that his death was a significant loss to his family, associates and the party.

“I have known Darma to be honest and sincere since our paths crossed,” Tinubu said.
“He contributed immensely to the development of Kano State, just as he did to our progressive movement and to the APC.”
The President also recalled Darma’s devotion to Islam, noting his commitment to observing prayers.
“Importantly, Darma was a devout Muslim. Nothing must stand in his way anytime he hears the call for Muslim prayers,” he said.
Tinubu commiserated with Darma’s family, political associates, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the APC family in Kano State over the loss.
“I mourn with his family and political associates. I commiserate with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Gida-Gida of Kano and the entire APC family in the state over this loss,” he said.
The President prayed for comfort for the deceased’s family and asked Allah to grant Darma Aljanna Firdaus.
