Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election and secure a second term in office.

Mr Musa also predicted victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State, saying the party would win both the presidential and governorship elections in the state.

The minister stated this in an interview with Channels Television, where he dismissed claims that President Tinubu had lost popularity in the North.

According to him, such claims are largely based on individual perceptions rather than the reality on the ground.

“That’s a perception. It’s a perception, and I mean, everybody has his own perception to deal with. People will always have the good, the bad, and the ugly,” he said.

Asked whether the APC could lose Kaduna State in the 2027 elections, Mr Musa expressed confidence that the party would retain the state.

“I cannot say we cannot lose. APC will win in Kaduna. That I know,” he said.

When asked if his prediction extended beyond the governorship election to the presidential contest, the minister said the APC would win at all levels.

“Definitely. Presidential, governorship, and all levels,” he said.

Mr Musa also accused some individuals of deliberately exploiting public sentiments against the APC because of dissatisfaction with their personal circumstances.

“That’s why I said there are some people, because probably they are not where they think they are, the tendency is they want to whip up sentiments. APC is this, APC is that,” he said.

The defence minister also defended the policies of the Tinubu administration, arguing that the president had taken difficult but necessary decisions that would yield positive results in the long run.

He urged Nigerians to remain patient with the administration, saying the full impact of some of its reforms would become more evident with time.
