Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested six suspected collaborators of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), received the surrender of the wife and son of a senior ISWAP finance operative, and recovered logistics items during separate intelligence-led operations in Borno State.
The developments were disclosed in a statement issued on Friday, July 31, by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.
According to the statement, troops of the 5 Brigade arrested the six suspected collaborators on July 27 in Damasak following intelligence indicating they were allegedly supporting the terrorist group’s financing activities.
Preliminary investigations, the military said, revealed that the suspects generated funds for ISWAP through the procurement and sale of cattle at designated markets in Gubio, Damasak and Ajuwango.

Items recovered from the suspects included a Volkswagen Golf car, vehicle keys, four mobile phones, cow meat and ₦317,950 in cash.
The military said the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
In another operation conducted on July 29, the wife of a senior ISWAP finance operative and her 11-year-old son surrendered to troops of the 3 Battalion through Kusuma Village.
The military disclosed that preliminary findings showed the woman’s husband, who reportedly served as ISWAP’s Chief Finance Officer in Jubillaram, had earlier surrendered to troops on July 25 and subsequently instructed his wife and son to also surrender after his successful escape from the terrorist enclave.
According to the statement, both individuals have been screened and are undergoing further profiling in line with military procedures.
Meanwhile, troops of the 145 Battalion, acting on credible intelligence, carried out a clearance operation at Turoh, forcing suspected terrorists to flee the area.
During the operation, troops recovered two motorcycles and large quantities of illicit hard drugs believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
Reaffirming its commitment to ongoing counter-insurgency operations, Operation HADIN KAI said it would continue targeting terrorist logistics and financial networks across the North-East.
The statement said, “Operation HADIN KAI reassures the public that troops will continue to intensify intelligence-driven and offensive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist logistics and financial networks while encouraging willing terrorist members and their families to surrender.”
The military also appealed for continued public support, urging residents to provide actionable intelligence to security agencies.
It added, “The military also urges members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information that will support ongoing operations to restore lasting peace, security and stability across the theatre.”
