Troops from Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have carried out a number of coordinated clearance operations aimed at identified terrorist enclaves in an ongoing effort to destroy terrorist strongholds and bring peace back to Zamfara State.
Launched in the early hours of May 4, 2026, the activities included important areas, such as the villages of Maikwanuga (Talata Mafara LGA), Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, and Tungar Magaji (Maradun LGA). Troops used tremendous firepower to confront terrorists in Tungar Magaji during the offensive, eliminating two of them and forcing the remainder to run in confusion.
One AK-47 rifle with a magazine full with thirty bullets and one motorcycle were found during the troops’ extensive investigation of the area after the battle.
The operations are a part of an ongoing effort to destroy terrorist strongholds in the Bagega–Sunke forest corridor and guarantee long-term safety for the impacted populations.
