Troops rescue 16-year-old kidnapping victim in Kaduna

Troops operating under Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have rescued a 16-year-old boy who was reportedly abducted in Kaduna State.

The teenager, identified as Master Uche Chibuke, was found at Kurmin Goro in the Sanga area at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Sources said Chibuke was kidnapped on Sunday, August 30, while returning from a graduation ceremony at the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya.

He was said to have been travelling towards Onitsha when his abductors abandoned him after reportedly sighting troops operating in the area.

The soldiers subsequently took the teenager into protective custody and moved him to safety.

Efforts are now underway to reunite Chibuke with his family, while security agencies continue investigations into the circumstances of the abduction and the identities of those behind it.

The rescue comes amid ongoing security operations in the area aimed at disrupting criminal activities and protecting residents and travellers.
