The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a three-hour electricity disruption in parts of Abuja on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, to enable urgent maintenance at its 330/132kV Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.
In a notice, TCN said the maintenance exercise would take place from 10am to 1pm and involve work on the substation’s 33kV, 6MVA earthing reactor.
The company said the exercise would prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from taking electricity to customers in several areas during the maintenance period.
Affected areas include Aso Villa, Asokoro, African Medical Centre, Kabusa, EFAB Estate, Apo Resettlement, Zone E Extension, Trademoore and adjoining communities.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance.
The company said the exercise was necessary to address urgent maintenance requirements at the transmission substation.
