The Trump administration has announced that the conflict with Iran, which began on 28 February, has now come to an end. The announcement comes just before the 60-day deadline set by the US War Powers Resolution. This law requires the president to seek approval from Congress to continue military action beyond this period.
The official order does not include any reference to a naval blockade against Iran. Under the War Powers Resolution, if Iran attacks a US naval ship, the president, as commander-in-chief, can immediately order defensive military action without needing prior approval from Congress.
