Two members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
NewsWatch Nigeria reports that Sani Adamu Wakili, who represents Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency, confirmed his exit in a letter dated May 2, 2026. The letter was sent to the party chairman in Zango Ward, Ungogo Local Government Area. He stated that his decision took effect immediately on that date.
He explained that changes within the party at the national level made it difficult for him to remain active and play a useful role in its affairs. Despite leaving the party, he said he would continue working for the people he represents and remain focused on public service.
On the same day, another lawmaker, Yusuf Umar Datti, also announced his departure from the ADC. Datti, who represents Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency, addressed his resignation letter to the party chairman in Tanawa Ward, Kura Local Government Area. Like Wakili, he made it clear that his exit became effective immediately.
Datti gave a similar reason for his action, pointing to developments within the party at the national level that made it hard for him to stay and contribute. He also maintained that his duty to his constituents would not change, adding that he would continue to serve their interests regardless of his political direction.
