Defection: ‘We Have Seen Peter Obi’s True Colour, We Are Disappointed’ – ADC Chieftain

Former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Sunday officially dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The duo also obtained their membership cards at the party’s national headquarters on Sunday evening. They were received by the national leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson.

Dickson, while welcoming them said, “I want to welcome you to the party that doesn’t know what is called status quo ante bellum.”

Reacting to the development, a chieftain of the ADC in Katsina State, Mustapha Muhammed Inuwa, said Obi’s exit was unfortunate.

Inuwa, who spoke with Daily Trust, accused the former Anambra State governor of allowing personal ambition to guide his decision.

He said no serious politician would be happy to lose a member of Obi’s calibre, but added that democracy gives everyone the right to make political choices.

The ADC chieftain said Obi had made what he described as a major political mistake.

He said, “Obi’s exit will not deter us and will not negatively affect us because people have now understood his true colour. I am truly disappointed in Obi’s, and a lot of people are. This will affect his political career negatively.”
