Two seven-year-old boys have died after being electrocuted by a fallen live electric wire in Idanre, Ondo State.
The victims, identified as Oloyede Ayo and Clinton Koleola, were reportedly inside a shop along Apefon Road when the wire fell on the building.
An eyewitness said the incident caused panic in the area, with the children attempting to escape from the shop after the wire came down.
The eyewitness said the boys came into contact with the live wire while trying to flee, resulting in their deaths.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said an investigation had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the electrocution.
Abayomi said preliminary findings indicated that a live electric wire suddenly fell on the shop and electrocuted the children as they attempted to escape.
The police spokesperson expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, describing the incident as a painful loss.
He assured that the command would thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
