The Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan, has introduced a new Master’s Programme in Election Administration, aimed at building professional expertise for credible elections and stronger democratic institutions.

According to the programme schedule released by the Head of Department, Professor David Uchenna Enweremadu, the programme will provide students with specialised knowledge in key areas including Election Processes, Election Management, and Democratic and Administrative Frameworks.

The department said the programme is designed as a professional master’s degree to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to understand and manage electoral processes effectively.

The programme is open to graduates of the University of Ibadan and other approved and recognised universities who possess relevant degrees or professional experience in electoral administration and Public Administration.

Admission requirements include five O’Level credit passes, including English Language.

The department also clarified that Mathematics is not a requirement for admission into the programme.

The new programme is expected to contribute to the development of a pool of skilled professionals capable of strengthening electoral administration, promoting credible elections and deepening democratic governance in Nigeria.
