US-Iran war live: The United States launched a fresh round of strikes on Iran on Wednesday, saying the operation was aimed at keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to international maritime traffic.
The strikes came after Iran launched attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait in response to earlier US airstrikes. Kuwait’s military said on Thursday that its air defence systems intercepted ‘hostile missile and drone attacks.’
The latest escalation has renewed fears of a wider conflict in West Asia, just as hopes for a lasting ceasefire had begun to emerge.

Global oil prices climbed on Thursday after the renewed military action raised concerns over possible disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil exports.
Brent crude futures rose 1 per cent to USD 78.80 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude gained 1.01 per cent to USD 74.26 per barrel. Both benchmarks also extended gains in after-hours trading following reports of the fresh US strikes.
US Iran war latest updates: Trump says ceasefire is ‘Over’
President Donald Trump said recent Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz showed that the interim ceasefire had effectively ended.
‘For me, I think it’s over,’ Trump said when asked about the agreement’s status.
Although he said negotiations could continue, Trump added, ‘They can talk, but I think they’re wasting their time.’
Responding on X, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi rejected Trump’s remarks, saying they ‘are not a sign of power but an admission of the failure’ of US policy toward Iran.
The latest developments have increased uncertainty over regional stability and raised concerns that the conflict could intensify further.
