US to issue passports with Trump’s photo

The United States Department of State has announced plans to introduce a limited-edition commemorative passport featuring a photo of Donald Trump as part of activities marking America’s 250th anniversary.

The special passport is expected to include his image, a move that would make him the first sitting U.S. president to appear in an American passport design.

Limited Copies to Be Issued

According to officials, only about 25,000 to 30,000 copies of the commemorative passport will be produced.

The special edition is expected to become available shortly before July 4 through the Washington passport office.

Authorities noted that applicants visiting the office in person may receive the commemorative version by default, although regular passports will still remain available through other application channels.

Special Design and Security Features

Officials explained that the commemorative passport will maintain the usual security protections found in standard U.S. passports while introducing unique artistic elements.

Reports indicated that Trump’s image will appear on one of the interior pages alongside a gold version of his signature.

The passport is also expected to feature a redesigned cover with bold gold lettering, a gold laminate American flag, and a “250” emblem to honor the country’s anniversary celebration.

State Department Explains Purpose

A spokesperson for the State Department said the project was created to celebrate a major milestone in American history.

According to the official, the updated design was intended to blend national heritage with a modern presentation reflecting the significance of the 250th anniversary.

The spokesperson added that the commemorative edition forms part of wider anniversary-related initiatives being planned across the country.

Departure From Longstanding Tradition

Traditionally, U.S. passports have featured historic landmarks and former American leaders such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

However, living presidents have not typically appeared in official passport designs, making the inclusion of Trump a notable break from past practice.

More Anniversary Plans Reportedly Under Discussion

Reports also suggested that discussions are ongoing about placing Trump’s image on commemorative currency and coins connected to the anniversary celebration.

Although no official confirmation has been made regarding those proposals, the reported plans have continued to attract public attention.
