The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has condemned an aerial attack that struck two trucks carrying food assistance outside Dilling in South Kordofan, Sudan, destroying more than 50 metric tons of supplies.
In a statement signed on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, WFP said the trucks were transporting food assistance to Kadugli, South Kordofan, and were clearly marked with WFP banners and flags when they were attacked on August 30.
The agency said the destroyed supplies included cereals, yellow split peas, vegetable oil and salt, adding that the food would have provided lifesaving assistance to about 5,800 people for one month.
WFP said it is currently supporting nearly 58,000 people in Kadugli who are facing emergency levels of food insecurity or worse through in-kind food assistance.

The agency described the attack as the latest example of the difficult operating environment confronting humanitarian organisations working in Sudan.
“Since the beginning of the year, WFP has recorded eight aerial attacks that have damaged its premises and disrupted operations,” the statement said.
WFP called on all parties involved in the conflict to comply with international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians, humanitarian workers and humanitarian assets.
“Attacks on aid workers and humanitarian operations are unacceptable and must stop,” the agency said.
