Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, was allegedly the target of an assassination plot tied to an Iran-backed operative, according to a report by The New York Post.
The alleged plot was reportedly linked to escalating tensions between the US and Iran and was described as an act of revenge for the killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani.
FBI Arrests Iraqi National Over Alleged Plot
According to the report, the FBI recently arrested 32-year-old Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, who allegedly pledged to kill Ivanka Trump. Investigators reportedly discovered what was described as a blueprint of the Trump family’s Florida residence.
Al-Saadi, an Iraqi national, is accused of targeting the Trump family as retaliation for Soleimani’s death in a US drone strike in Baghdad nearly six years ago.
“After Qasem was killed, he [Al-Saadi] went around telling people ‘we need to kill Ivanka to burn down the house of Trump the way he burned down our house,” The Post reported a former deputy military attaché in the Iraqi embassy say.
“We heard that he had a plan of Ivanka’s house in Florida,” the person further added. A second source confirmed the plans to The Post.
Social Media Post Allegedly Revealed Surveillance Plans
The report further stated that Al-Saadi allegedly shared a map image on X showing the Florida enclave where Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner own a USD 24 million home.
The post reportedly included a threatening caption translated as, “I say to the Americans look at this picture and know that neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you. We are currently in the stage of surveillance and analysis. I told you, our revenge is a matter of time,” the Post noted.
Alleged Links to Attacks Across Europe
US authorities allege that Al-Saadi was involved in multiple attacks targeting American and Jewish interests across Europe. Ivanka Trump, 44, converted to Orthodox Judaism in 2009 before marrying Kushner.
Who Is Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi?
Al-Saadi is reportedly a senior member of Kata’ib Hizballah, an Iran-backed militia designated by the United States as a foreign terrorist organization. According to Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg, Al-Saadi allegedly “coordinated a wave of attacks across Europe, including bombings, arson, and assaults targeting American communities and interests”.
He is accused of directing 18 terrorist attacks across Europe within a span of three months. Investigators also allege that he discussed potential attacks on locations in New York, California and Arizona. The report added that Al-Saadi had also worked closely with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who was killed alongside Soleimani in the same US airstrike in Baghdad.
