Turner changed the way people consumed news by launching a 24-hour television news channel. Today, this format has become the norm for news broadcasting.
Known for his bold and outspoken personality, Turner built a vast media empire. His ventures included cable television’s first superstation, along with entertainment channels focused on movies and cartoons. He also owned major sports teams, including the Atlanta Braves.
Turner’s vision of round-the-clock news coverage reshaped journalism, allowing audiences to follow major events as they happened. His influence was widely recognised, and in 1991, Time magazine named him Man of the Year, highlighting his role in making people around the world “instant witnesses of history.”
