Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has explained that her decision to reject her inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council was not influenced by online bullying or trolls.
Abraham said she rejected the appointment because she had not been consulted before her name was included in the list and because she had previously stated that she was not interested in politics.
In a post via social media on Friday, September 18, the actress said she was surprised to discover her name on the campaign council list.
“I didn’t do it because of any bully. I did it because it was the right thing to do. I woke up and saw my name on a list I knew absolutely nothing about. Moreover, I’ve already said it—I’m not interested in politics,” she wrote.
Her clarification followed her earlier denial on Thursday after her name appeared on the Lagos APC Campaign Council list released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre.

Abraham was listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate alongside Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Jide Kosoko, Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.
The council was scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
In an Instagram Story on Thursday, Abraham had also distanced herself from the campaign council, saying she had already made her position on political involvement clear.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she said.
The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is headed by Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, as Director, with Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.
