Kenyan police have arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered hundreds of rolls of bhang in separate operations in Buruburu and Thika.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kenya disclosed this in a post on X, detailing the arrests and recovery of suspected narcotics.
In Buruburu, a 26-year-old woman, Bernice Achieng, was arrested after police officers discovered bhang allegedly concealed inside a loaf of bread she brought for her boyfriend, who is being held at Buruburu Police Station.
According to the DCI, Achieng had asked officers at the station’s report office desk to pass the loaf to her boyfriend, but the unsealed package raised suspicion.
A search of the bread uncovered five rolls of bhang and a matchbox, while another seven rolls were found in the pocket of her jacket, bringing the total recovered to 12 rolls.
The DCI said Achieng remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned.

In a separate incident in Thika, police arrested a suspected drug peddler after a motorcycle chase through Kairi, Thika West, ended in a crash.
The suspect, identified as John Mwangi, alias “Bombay,” was travelling with a female pillion passenger when they encountered a police roadblock.
According to the DCI, “Sensing trouble, the duo gunned the engine in a desperate bid to vanish.”
The motorcycle later crashed near Ree Supermarket after the rider misjudged a speed bump, while the female passenger escaped into the crowd.
Mwangi was arrested at the scene, while a search of the motorcycle led to the recovery of 300 rolls of bhang and an additional three kilograms wrapped in yellow polythene and strapped to the seat.
The DCI said Mwangi is being held at Kimuchu Police Station and is undergoing processing pending arraignment.
