World’s ugliest man turned his struggles into success, got married twice, has 8 children, name is…, he is from…

Godfrey Baguma, popularly known as “Ssebabi”, is a Ugandan singer, comedian, and former shoemaker who gained international attention after winning a competition for the ‘World’s Ugliest Man’ in 2002. Instead of letting ridicule define him, Baguma embraced the title and used it to rebuild his confidence and create a successful entertainment career.

Today, the 56-year-old is known not only for his unusual appearance but also for his inspiring journey and determination to live life on his own terms.

What disease does Godfrey Baguma have?

Godfrey Baguma suffers from a rare genetic condition known as Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). The disorder causes muscles, tendons, and connective tissues to gradually turn into bone, severely restricting movement over time.

The condition usually begins around the neck and shoulders and slowly spreads to other parts of the body. As the disease progresses, patients may face difficulties in walking, eating, and speaking.

How did Godfrey Baguma become famous?

Baguma grew up in a small village in Uganda, where he was frequently mocked because of his appearance. People reportedly called him hurtful names and compared him to animals. However, he refused to let the insults break his spirit.

His life changed in 2002 when he participated in a contest in Uganda and was crowned the “World’s Ugliest Man.” What could have been an embarrassment for many became a turning point for Baguma, who later said the title helped him regain his lost self-confidence.

From social stigma to music and comedy

To cope with the challenges of living with a rare disorder, Baguma turned to music and comedy. Over the years, he established himself as a successful singer and entertainer in Uganda.

He has appeared on television programs, including TLC’s “Most Extreme Humans,” where he spoke openly about his life and struggles.

Godfrey Baguma’s family

Despite the hardships, Baguma found happiness in his personal life. He is married to Namanda Kate, and together they have six children. He also has two children from a previous relationship, making him a father of eight.

Even while living with chronic pain and a condition that has no known cure, Baguma continues to entertain people and inspire others with his resilience.
