Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has congratulated residents of the state as they celebrate the annual Takutaha event commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described Takutaha as an important religious and cultural tradition that promotes unity and reflects the people’s love for the Prophet.
Yusuf said the celebration remained an integral part of Kano’s rich Islamic heritage, noting that generations of residents had preserved religious and cultural practices associated with Maulud.
He urged Muslims to use the occasion to renew their commitment to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly his messages of peace, compassion, tolerance, justice and peaceful coexistence.
The governor also called on residents to sustain the spirit of unity and brotherhood demonstrated during the celebration, stressing that peace and mutual understanding were essential to the state’s development.
Yusuf commended traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, community leaders and event organisers for their role in preserving Kano’s religious and cultural heritage.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting the state’s history, culture and religious values, while encouraging younger generations to preserve the heritage of their forebears.
The governor wished the people of Kano a peaceful Takutaha celebration and prayed for continued peace, stability and prosperity in the state.
