More than 2,000 academics from Jigawa State have endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi for second terms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced by the Jigawa State Academics Forum during an interactive session with Governor Namadi and the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ibrahim Kabiru Masari.
Chairman of the forum, Professor Haruna Birniwa, said the academics based their decision on what they described as improvements in infrastructure, economic development, security and the stability of the academic calendar.
“We recognise the positive developments recorded under both administrations and believe these efforts deserve continuity,” Birniwa said.
The declaration triggered a standing ovation from participants at the meeting.
The forum comprises more than 2,000 academics from Jigawa State teaching in universities across Nigeria.
The academics also commended Governor Namadi’s 12-point development agenda, describing it as a framework for driving development across the state.
The session, held under the theme “Harnessing Knowledge for a Greater Jigawa: Together for a Knowledge-Driven Future,” featured presentations on the achievements of the Federal and Jigawa State governments, followed by an interactive session with the academics.
The endorsement adds to the political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, as supporters of both administrations begin to mobilise backing fortheir second-term bids.
