Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has commiserated with the families of suspected illegal miners who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State.
Tajudeen, in a condolence message issued on Monday, also expressed sympathy to the Niger State Government over the incident.
The Speaker described the deaths as “painful, unfortunate, and avoidable.”

He said the circumstances surrounding the deaths must be thoroughly investigated, in line with the directive issued by President Bola Tinubu.
“With the directive from President Bola Tinubu, I expect a thorough and comprehensive investigation of the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Tajudeen said.
He extended his condolences to the victims’ families and the people and government of Niger State, while urging that the circumstances leading to the deaths be established.
