Security operatives have rescued two female students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in Imo State, who were abducted on campus on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The FUTO Public Relations Officer, Orakwe Ezugwu, confirmed the release of the students via a statement issued on Friday.
Ezugwu said the students were receiving medical care and psychological support at the university’s Medical Centre.
Ezugwu disclosed that the FUTO Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ikechukwu Dozie, had visited the students and interacted with them.

He noted that the university management commended the police and other security agencies for prompt intervention.
He said: “Management assures students, staff, parents, and the university community that additional security measures are being sustained in collaboration with relevant security agencies.
“Members of the university community are urged to remain calm and vigilant, and report any suspicious activity.”
