The Federal Government has confirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges across the country will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.
The Federal Ministry of Education said necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a safe and smooth start to the new academic session.
In a statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Boriowo Folasade, on Friday, September 11, the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained a priority for the government.
“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said.

The minister said relevant security agencies had been informed of the resumption arrangements and would maintain heightened vigilance around the Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.
According to him, the coordinated security measures were aimed at protecting students, staff and members of school communities as academic activities resume nationwide.
Alausa urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with preparations for their children and wards to return to school on Monday.
He also directed authorities of the Federal Unity Colleges to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly and secure resumption.
The minister called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful and secure learning environment.
He stressed that “the safety and wellbeing of learners remain a shared responsibility.”
The ministry said it would continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the safe resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges.
It reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the education system and providing Nigerian children with access to quality education in a safe and conducive environment.
