Israel forward Sayed Abu Farchi scored his first international goal but was sent off moments later during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Austria in the Nations League.
The Colorado Rapids forward brought Israel level at 1-1 before his goal celebration turned costly.
Abu Farchi ran towards the corner flag, removed it from the ground and knelt beside it before making a shooting gesture with his hands towards his teammates.
Bulgarian referee Georgi Kabakov booked the striker for the celebration.
As Abu Farchi had already received a yellow card earlier in the match, the second booking resulted in a red card and his dismissal.
Israel were subsequently reduced to 10 players for the remainder of the match and Austria went on to secure a 3-1 victory.
The goal marked a career milestone for Abu Farchi, but his dismissal shortly afterwards overshadowed what would otherwise have been a memorable first international goal.
