A businessman, Afolabi Michael Kazeem, also known as KC Luxury, will on Friday be arraigned at the Federal High Court, Lagos, over his alleged involvement in the trafficking of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine.
He was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while allegedly attempting to travel to Paris, France.
The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) also alleges that the suspect’s arrest followed the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine at DHL, Ikeja, Lagos, with the agency alleging that the suspect, KC Luxury, was connected to the shipment.
The 49-year-old, known to his Instagram followers as a dealer in gold and luxury goods, has been in the agency’s custody since his arrest, with the court granting an order on August 20, 2026, extending his detention for 30 days.
Last week, Justice Aluko dismissed KC Luxury’s application seeking to overturn the extension order, on the grounds that it was an abuse of court process and lacked merit.
The court held that the detention extension order granted on August 20, 2026, was properly issued and backed by the Constitution and relevant drug-control laws.
Kazeem, popularly called KC Luxury, through his lawyer, Abdulakeem Labi-Lawal (SAN), had asked the court to set aside or strike out the order, arguing that the court lacked jurisdiction to extend his detention and that the order was an unlawful interference with his constitutional right to personal liberty.
But the court agreed with the argument of NDLEA’s counsel, Abu Ibrahim, that the defence’s position was a misconception of the nature of the order granted by the court.
