Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Bukarti praised the Office of the National Security Adviser, led by Nuhu Ribadu, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and other security agencies for sustained military operations that have resulted in the deaths of several commanders of Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other extremist groups.
While describing the recent achievements as significant progress, Bukarti warned that terrorist organisations have repeatedly demonstrated the ability to recover from leadership losses by appointing new commanders and reorganising their operations.
Drawing from Nigeria’s past experience, he recalled the death of former Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, noting that many believed the insurgency would end after his demise.
