Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial race, aligning himself with the APC’s consensus candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, following the endorsement of Hamzat by President Bola Tinubu and Lagos APC leadership.

In a statement released today, Jandor announced his decision to step down, emphasizing that it was driven by a sense of responsibility, party cohesion, and respect for the leadership of President Tinubu.

He clarified that his withdrawal was not a result of weakness, but a strong commitment to maintaining unity within the APC.

“I address you today with a deep sense of responsibility and clarity of purpose regarding the future of our party and our dear state, Lagos,” Jandor said, acknowledging that his aspiration to serve and his decision to run were both based on conviction, consultation, and a desire to contribute to Lagos’ growth.

However, after careful consideration and in light of the endorsement of Dr. Hamzat, Jandor stated, “I have decided to withdraw from the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial race. This decision is not borne out of weakness or a lack of capacity, but out of strength, discipline, and a deep respect for party cohesion and unity.”

Jandor reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and President Tinubu, stressing the importance of party supremacy and the strategic alignment necessary for the APC’s continued success. He further extended his support to the Lagos4Lagos Movement, which he said would continue to push for a better, more inclusive Lagos, despite the shift in focus toward Hamzat’s candidacy.

“The Lagos4Lagos Movement has never been about one individual; it has always been about a cause, equity, inclusion, and a better Lagos for all,” Jandor stated, urging his supporters to stay calm, focused, and committed to the party’s chosen direction.

The announcement marks a significant moment in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, with Jandor’s decision to align with the APC’s consensus candidate expected to ease tensions within the party and bolster Hamzat’s position ahead of the gubernatorial race.

Jandor concluded by thanking his supporters and the media for their continued engagement and professionalism, reaffirming his commitment to the growth of Lagos State and the success of the APC.
