Tension has erupted at the Accra High Court during the ongoing bail hearing of Salomey Awiti Baffoe, as lawyers Enoch Afoakwa and Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah confronted an alleged representative of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
According to accounts surrounding the incident, the confrontation followed an alleged attempt by EOCO staff member Cynthia Bisiw to arrest a Member of Parliament.
The situation reportedly became heated, with the exchange between the lawyers and the EOCO official nearly turning physical.
The MP managed to get into her vehicle and drive away from the scene. Cynthia Bisiw is then said to have followed in an EOCO vehicle in an attempt to pursue her.
The incident drew the attention of people around the court, with footage from the scene showing a visibly tense exchange involving the lawyers, the EOCO official and other individuals.
The development occurred as the court was hearing the bail application involving Salomey Awiti Baffoe, who is facing charges in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged activities linked to the “Ghana Jollof” audio.
Enoch Afoakwa and Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah have previously represented individuals in politically sensitive investigations, including NPP figure Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged arrest attempt and the identities of all persons involved would need to be confirmed by the relevant authorities.
