According to a report by London Evening Standard on Friday July 3, 2026, Eight Tunisia players have tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol during routine drug testing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
However, none of the players have been suspended because officials believe the positive results were caused by contaminated meat rather than the intentional use of a performance-enhancing drug.
Tunisia endured a disappointing tournament after finishing bottom of Group F with heavy defeats against Sweden, Japan, and the Netherlands. The poor campaign also led to a managerial change. Sabri Lamouchi was dismissed following the team’s 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match. Herve Renard was then appointed to lead the side for their remaining fixtures.
All players competing at the World Cup are eligible for random anti-doping tests throughout the tournament.
