“Everywhere in the world, even in America, flight is expensive” — Tinubu’s wife

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed optimism about the country’s future, stating that ongoing infrastructure projects and government investments will deliver long-term benefits for Nigerians.

Speaking in a viral video, the First Lady acknowledged concerns over the high cost of air travel but noted that expensive flight fares are not unique to Nigeria.

According to her, air transportation costs have risen globally, including in the United States, prompting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus on expanding alternative transport systems such as rail and coastal transportation routes.

Government expanding transport infrastructure

Mrs Tinubu said the federal government is continuing efforts to improve the nation’s transport network through investments in rail projects and other infrastructure developments.

Nigeria is such a great country and now you can see airports emerging, so I know you will say, ‘Oh, the flights are so expensive,’” she said.

Everywhere in the world, even in America, flights are expensive. And that’s why Mr President is doing the coastal routes, not only coastal routes, even trying to have rail lines.”

She added that while some rail projects were initiated by the previous administration, the current government remains committed to their completion.

And so I know the previous administration started the rail line and, you know, we continue. We continue building,” she stated.

‘Nigeria has a huge future ahead’

The First Lady expressed confidence that ongoing development efforts would yield positive results in the coming years, describing Nigeria’s prospects as promising.

Nigeria has a huge future ahead of it and by the grace of God, very soon we all will be beneficiaries of the success of what Nigeria will become,” she said.
