The Federal Government has outlined strategies to deepen engagement with Nigerian youths through digital platforms, campus networks, influencers and increased youth representation in government.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital/New Media Engagement, O’tega Ogra, disclosed this according to a statement via the X handle of the Nigerian Presidency on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Ogra said the administration was deliberately adopting communication channels that would enable young Nigerians to better understand government policies and programmes.
He said the government was “meeting young people where they are” rather than relying solely on traditional communication platforms.

According to him, tertiary institutions are a major focus of the strategy, with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the “Student Club” initiative being used to reach students and young people.
Ogra said about 1.6 million Nigerian students and youths are already part of the platform.
He added that the government was also working with influencers and existing community structures trusted by young people to disseminate information about its activities.
Student and cultural associations, he said, are also being utilised to take information on government programmes to communities at the grassroots.
The presidential aide identified direct inclusion of youths in governance as the third pillar of the strategy.
He said President Bola Tinubu’s administration had employed more young people in government positions than any other administration since the return to democratic rule in 1999.
Ogra also appealed to Nigerian youths to engage with the young government officials and hold them accountable for their responsibilities.
He said the measures were part of efforts to bridge the communication gap between the government and young Nigerians through digital platforms, peer networks and increased youth participation in governance.
