The incumbent Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has maintained that he reserves the right to anoint his successor to take over from him in 2027.
Fintiri also disclosed that he would reveal his preferred successor to the public by next week.
According to him, he owes it a responsibility to the people of the state to ensure he is succeeded by the best, and even if his decision is followed by political persecution, he is ready to suffer for it.
“I have the right to anoint my candidate, and by next week, I will make him known.
“Anybody who put pains on my people, I will fight him. At this moment I will take my decision as the Governor of the State to ensure the best succeed me. Not even the threat of persecution. I am fully ready and prepared to put my life and blood for this state to succeed,” he said.
