First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to embrace charity and volunteerism as part of efforts to support vulnerable people and build stronger communities.
Tinubu made the call in her message to mark the 2026 International Day of Charity on Saturday, September 5.
She said acts of generosity could help restore hope and promote a more inclusive society, stressing that charity goes beyond financial donations.
“Charity is more than giving; it is about extending a helping hand, restoring hope, and supporting those in need,” the First Lady said.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to extend kindness to the less privileged, noting that even small acts of generosity could have a significant impact on people’s lives.
“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in the life of another,” she said.
According to her, collective efforts to support vulnerable members of society could contribute to reducing poverty and strengthening communities.
“I encourage Nigerians to continue to embrace the spirit of giving and volunteerism, particularly towards the vulnerable and less privileged,” she said.
Tinubu added that collective action was necessary to ensure that disadvantaged Nigerians were not excluded from opportunities and support.
“Through our collective action, we can help reduce poverty, strengthen our communities, and ensure that no one is left behind,” she said.
