The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured the remand of an articulated vehicle driver, Mubarak Mansur, over alleged Route Traffic Violation (RTV), dangerous driving and fleeing with an FRSC Marshal in Abuja.
Mansur was arraigned before the FRSC Mobile Court sitting at Kabusa Roundabout, Abuja, following an incident during an enforcement operation on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
Presided over by Her Worship Teresa, the court ordered that the articulated vehicle involved be impounded at the FRSC RS7.1 FCT Sector Command, while Mansur was remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned until September 8, 2026, for hearing and determination.

According to a statement by the FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, on Friday, September 4, the incident occurred at about 1pm during a Mobile Court operation at Kabusa Roundabout, where Mansur was arrested for alleged route traffic violation.
The Corps said that while the articulated vehicle was being impounded, the driver allegedly diverted from the prescribed route with the arresting Marshal still inside the vehicle.
“The driver reportedly diverted from the prescribed route with the arresting Marshal still in the vehicle, prompting the Marshal to raise an alarm and call for reinforcement,” the statement said.
Following a coordinated response involving FRSC personnel and the Nigeria Police, the vehicle was intercepted and redirected to the Apo Unit Command.
It was later towed with a heavy-duty recovery vehicle to the FCT Sector Command, where it was kept pending the determination of the case.
Reacting to the development, FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said enforcement of traffic regulations was aimed at protecting lives and ensuring compliance with established road safety rules.
The Corps Marshal stressed that road safety enforcement was “not merely about penalising traffic offenders, but about protecting lives and ensuring that every road user complies with established traffic regulations.”
He warned motorists against attempting to evade lawful enforcement or endangering road safety personnel, saying such actions would be treated seriously and dealt with according to the law.
Mohammed also urged motorists, particularly operators of articulated and other heavy-duty vehicles, to comply with designated routes and traffic regulations.
He maintained that “no individual or operator is above the law when public safety is at stake.”
The FRSC appreciated the Nigeria Police and other stakeholders for their cooperation in enforcing road traffic regulations and ensuring the safety of motorists and enforcement personnel.
