Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has met with Prince Mohammed Audu, son of the late former governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu, to discuss economic development, agricultural growth and unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement signed by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, on Monday, the governor’s visit to Mohammed Audu focused on strengthening the state’s economy, improving the welfare of residents and creating greater opportunities through agriculture.
Fanwo said the governor and Audu explored ways to boost agricultural production, particularly by developing the cashew value chain to enable farmers and the state derive greater economic benefits from the sector.
According to the commissioner, Mohammed Audu expressed his willingness to work with Ododo to attract development to Kogi State, while stressing the importance of cooperation among stakeholders.
Audu also thanked Ododo for being the first serving governor to visit his residence, describing the gesture as a demonstration of humility.

He appreciated the governor for organising the 10th anniversary ceremony marking the death of his father and for naming a road after him as Prince Abubakar Audu Boulevard.
According to Fanwo, Mohammed Audu said the gestures showed that “Kogi State would continue to remember and honour his father,” whom he described as a man who laid the democratic foundation of the state.
He also commended former Governor Yahaya Bello for renaming Kogi State University, Anyigba, as Prince Abubakar Audu University, saying the gesture was an honour the family would cherish.
The meeting also focused on reconciliation and strengthening relationships among APC stakeholders in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fanwo said Audu urged Governor Ododo to sustain his reconciliatory efforts, noting that the engagements were already producing positive results.
The commissioner added that Ododo’s stakeholder engagements were aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said the governor remained committed to bringing stakeholders together around shared objectives of peace, economic growth and development in Kogi State.
