Troops of 17 Brigade, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed two high-profile terrorist commanders during an operation in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The commanders were identified as Hamisu, alias Mamiyo, a suspected gunrunner and second-in-command to Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, and Umar Bocho, a senior lieutenant in the group.
The military said Kachalla Muhammadu Filani escaped with severe gunshot wounds during the operation.
Troops also recovered and destroyed two motorcycles belonging to the terrorists.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt terrorist and bandit networks operating across the North-West.
