The Kano State Government has approved the payment of 200 Saudi Riyals and the provision of Ihram garments to each intending pilgrim from the state ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Governor Abba Yusuf disclosed this on Sunday through his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, during the launch of a practical demonstration session organised by the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board for prospective pilgrims in Kano.
The governor, according to the deputy, said the gesture was part of efforts to support and ease the financial burden on intending pilgrims while ensuring adequate spiritual preparation for the sacred journey.
Mr Garo explained that the demonstration exercise was designed to educate and spiritually prepare pilgrims on the step-by-step Hajj rites, including Ihram, Tawaf, Saâi, Arafat, Muzdalifah, Mina, and the symbolic stoning of the Jamarat.
He said the administration remained committed to the welfare and well-being of all pilgrims from the state.
âThis demonstration is a vital aspect of Hajj preparation. Hajj is not merely a journey of travel; it is a sacred act of worship that requires adequate knowledge, discipline, patience and sincere devotion to Allah,â Mr Garo said.
He further conveyed the governorâs approval of the financial and material support, describing it as a gesture of goodwill to all intending pilgrims.
âI also wish to give the good tidings to our pilgrims that the Kano State Government has approved the sum of 200 Saudi Riyals and Ihram to each and every intending pilgrim as a compliment from His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf,â he added.
The deputy governor also disclosed that arrangements had been made for comfortable accommodation for Kano pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to ensure a smooth and convenient stay throughout the Hajj period.
He added that the state had deployed medical personnel to complement services provided by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, while qualified Islamic scholars had also been selected to offer spiritual guidance during the exercise.
Mr Garo urged the intending pilgrims to serve as good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria by adhering strictly to the laws of Saudi Arabia and conducting themselves with discipline, humility, and responsibility throughout the pilgrimage.
