INEC opens fresh voter registration across Rivers

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Rivers State has announced the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise across the state beginning Monday, May 11, 2026.

According to the commission, the exercise will run daily from 9am to 3pm at INEC offices located in the 23 Local Government Areas of the state and will later be extended to Registration Area and ward levels on a rotational basis.

INEC explained that the exercise, scheduled to end on July 10, 2026, is designed to give eligible Nigerians who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards the opportunity to register, while also allowing registered voters to transfer or update their voter information where necessary.

The electoral body also appealed to political parties, civil society groups, media organisations and members of the public to cooperate with the Commission to ensure a peaceful and seamless electoral process in the state.

The statement, signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, said, “The Commission further calls for support and cooperation from all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, the media and the general public, to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.”

INEC urged all eligible residents in the state to take advantage of the exercise before the July 10 deadline.
