Ifeanyi Odii Declared Winner Of Ebonyi PDP Guber Primaries

Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii has emerged as the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primary election, conducted across the 13 local government areas of the state on Tuesday, saw Odii emerge unopposed in an exercise monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Declaring the results at the party’s collation centre in Abakaliki, chairman of the primary election committee, Dr. Lekon Rotimi, announced that Odii secured a total of 8,281 votes to become the PDP’s consensus governorship candidate.

“I am glad to announce that from the 13 local government areas of the state, we have a total vote of 8,281 for the sole and only candidate of the PDP,” Rotimi said.

“After careful collation and verification of all the results from the local government areas, I hereby declare Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as the winner of this governorship primary.”

Speaking after the exercise, the state PDP chairman, Chukwuma Igwe, described the primary as peaceful and transparent, noting that the party adopted a consensus arrangement across its primaries in the state.

“We have carried out all our primaries by consensus because PDP is a very peaceful family in Ebonyi State,” Igwe stated.

Addressing party supporters after his emergence, Odii commended members of the party for the peaceful conduct of the primary and pledged to pursue what he described as good governance in the state.

He criticised the current administration in Ebonyi, alleging that governance in the state had become a “personal family business,” which he said must be changed.

Odii, who was also the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 election, said his ambition for 2027 was driven by the desire to “liberate” the state and improve the welfare of citizens.

“It is time for us to bring about good governance that will benefit both the born and unborn children, civil servants, teachers, men and women of Ebonyi State,” he said.

He further assured supporters that the state would experience economic growth and improved welfare under a PDP-led administration if elected governor in 2027.
