Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from his alma mater, St. Gregory’s College, in recognition of his contributions to policing and public service.
Disu was honoured alongside the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Olayemi Cardoso, at a grand reception organised by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association in Lagos on Saturday.
The award recognised Disu’s more than three decades of service to the Nigeria Police Force and his career in leadership, criminal investigation, intelligence operations, international peacekeeping and senior command.
Disu joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992 and has since served in several operational and leadership positions.
His previous roles include Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, Head of the Intelligence Response Team and Commissioner of Police, before his appointment as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police in February 2026.
The Old Boys Association also recognised his emphasis on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, personnel welfare, community partnership and the use of technology to strengthen public safety.
Reacting to the honour, Disu expressed appreciation to the association, describing recognition from his alma mater as particularly significant.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving Nigeria with integrity and strengthening the police as a professional, accountable and people-centred institution.
The event brought together distinguished old boys of St. Gregory’s College to celebrate individuals who have made notable contributions to national service and leadership in their respective fields.
The recognition of Disu also highlighted the role of education, mentorship and values in shaping public servants and leaders who contribute to national development.
