The Kogi Central list also features incumbent Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bello’s emergence as the APC candidate followed months of uncertainty surrounding his eligibility and screening for the senatorial contest.

He was eventually cleared by the party’s screening committee alongside other aspirants from the three senatorial districts before securing the APC ticket for Kogi Central.

Bello won the party’s primary election with 72,399 votes across the five local government areas in the district, defeating Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke, who polled 319 votes, while Momoh Yusuf Obaro scored 188 votes.

In Kogi East, INEC listed 17 candidates for the senatorial election, including Ameh Erico Joseph of the APC, Ochija Berikisu of the Democracy for the Liberation of Africa (DLA), Ojogbane Paul Ilemona of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Muhammed Abdullahi of the PDP.

Kogi West has 14 candidates on the final list, including Karimi Sunday of the APC, Musa Ibrahim Ahmadu of the ADC and Yusuf Ayo Tajudeen of the PDP.

The commission also indicated that none of the 42 candidates across the three senatorial districts was listed as a person living with disability, with the “PWD” column marked “None” throughout the document.
